William’s Royal Carnival 1st Birthday Party

Can you believe William turned 1 on 05/05/2022 already? I can’t! It seems just like yesterday that he crawled out of my belly and turned our entire life upside down. You know I just had to turn his first birthday party into something special. Also I just LOVE planning a good party!

I think I started scrolling Pinterest for inspo back in August when he was a mere 3 months old. The color scheme was pretty clear to me from the beginning on. The overall theme not so much. But the more I looked at first birthday parties for baby boys, the more I knew that it had to be royal carnival style. I felt like it would be the perfect fit for our little prince’s first birthday party ☺️

While on my Pinterest inspo tour, I saw these cute candy bars everywhere. I knew it would be the perfect addition to our party and also perfectly to arrange the balloon arch over it. But all the ones I could find for rental didn’t convince me. I then found one for sale on ebay I immediately fell in love with. So I decided to order it. The balloon arch I ordered off Amazon and the rest of the decor including the cute number balloon and the paper plates are from Baby Belly Party, a website I totally recommend when planning a party.

For the food I kept it simple: burgers and my favorite summer salad. My mom also made her infamous pasta salad with pesto rosso and feta cheese. Yum! The best part was the cake though. I knew I wanted something very special. Not your usual cake. No! After talking to a few bakeries, I realized that my ideal cake would be very pricey. Since Mommy and I love baking, we decided to do it ourselves. A few youtube videos and blog posts later and I had a plan on how to turn my ideas into reality.

A few days before the party my mom asked me what kind of entertainment I had in mind for all the kids coming. I thought about renting a bouncy castle before but wasn’t really sure if it was worth the investment. But even though I mostly invited our friends and family as William clearly doens’t have any friends yet, having a little something for the kids that did come wasn’t a bad idea. So I rented a bouncy castle with a ball pool last minute. In the end, most kids canceled but the bouncy castle was a hit nevertheless. Even William absolutely loved it.

Overall, the party turned out great. And as you know me, I’m already planning the next one in my head 😉
