Taste-testing this homemade peanut butter lavender granola, reminded me of my beloved cereal I had as a kid for breakfast. As probably every child, I was obsessed with Kellogs, especially Cini Minis and Frosties.

During puberty, my body changed and I became more health conscious. Not for the health benefits but to look a certain way. Actually, like all these skinny models in my fashion magazines (as if that was any healthy).
I skipped on my beloved Kellogs and replaced them with normal cereal, which, of course, was loaded with sugar and all kinds of stuff, that was not really nutritious for my body. But back then, I thought I lived VERY healthy!
Oatmeal is a great healthy breakfast option
In college, I discovered Tone It Up and started to learn more about nutrition, and what kind of nutrients are in certain foods and how they benefit our body. You could say, I got a little health obsessed (which I’m probably still kind of am).
I always like to go to the extremes. Do you know the saying ‘Don’t half ass anything, always put your full ass in’. I also put my back and legs in, too.
Anyways, the point is, that I started to have oats for breakfast. Each morning, I was looking forward to my warm bowl of oatmeal. It was delicious and versatile at the same time. In Fall, I would add pumpkin puree and pumpkin spice, during Christmas time, I’d sprinkle cinnamon over them, summer was pineapple time…you get the idea.

Breakfast became my favorite meal of the day.
Until recently, when I started feeling a little bit fed up (literally) by my morning oatmeal game. I didn’t look forward to it anymore like I used to. That’s where I remembered granola and how much I missed some crunchiness in my brekkie.
Every store-bought granola had added sugar
I immediately went to the next supermarket and straight to the organic section to buy some delicious and healthy granola. In my mind, one of these companies must offer a cleaner version of granola without unncessary sugar.
Well, I was wrong. Every single one came with added sugar. There was not one brand, that offered honey as a sweetner or at least coconut sugar.

The next time I wanted to buy granola, I went to a fancier supermarket, certain that they would have a cleaner option. I was disappointed again. Their granola had even more unneccessary ingredients.
Back home and kind of frustrated, I decided to make my own. Shouldn’t be too complicated after all.
As always, I turned to Pinterest for help. This site is just heaven! I quickly found a few recipes that were promising. Adding a few ingredients here and there, and et voilá, I had my homemade clean and crazy delicious granola. Well, not any regular granola but peanut butter lavender granola. You know, nothing is regular with me 🙂
Seriously guys, I’d never thought, it would turn out that amazing! My boyfriend came home that day and asked me if I baked a chocolate cake. After he had taste-tested some, he said that this would be a great chocolate replacement. Coming from him, that’s a real compliment as he is really picky with his sweets.

I tested some myself and he was right. This was a real treat.
I know, I know, your mouth is already watering so I don’t want to keep the recipe for this homemade peanut butter lavender granola from you any longer.

Homemade Peanut Butter Lavender Granola

This homemade peanut butter lavender granola comes with all the taste but none of the sugar like the store-bought options. The perfect healthy breakfast.
- 2 cups oats
- 2 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tsb cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp Himalayan salt
- 6 tbsp natural peanut butter
- 1/3 cup lavender honey
Preheat oven to 325 degrees (180°C). Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper or spray lightly with coconut oil.
Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl.
Stir in wet ingredients and mix until well combined. Make sure all the oats are covered in something wet.
Spread mixture on baking sheet.
Bake for 20-25 minutes. The granola can still be a little bit wet when you remove it from the oven. It will harden when it cools.
Break into little chunks and store in a mason jar at a cool and dark place (not the fridge) for up to a week.
